Fr Anthony was born in Birmingham and grew up in Pype Hayes, attending the Gunter Road school, and later the Marsh Hill Boys school in Stockland Green. After taking 'A' levels he studied for a BA degree in Geography at Portsmouth, graduating in 1977.

For over twenty years he worked in information  technology systems in the public and private sector, for companies in London and the West Midlands. He was accepted for theological training in 1996 and studied for three years (part-time) at the Queens Foundation in Edgbaston, on the West Midlands Ministerial Training Course.

After being made Deacon in 1999, he served as a Curate at St Barnabas, Erdington for four years, after being Priested in 2000. After ministering under Bishop's Permission to Officiate for a time, providing service cover where needed, Fr Anthony was licensed to St Matthew, Nechells, serving there until becoming Priest-in-Charge at All Saints in August 2005.
